1:1 Human Academic Coach

1. Apply. Submit enrollment and select the 1:1 Human Academic Coach track (in addition to the Intelligence Tutor 1:1).
2. Named coach. Mind Orbit Academy assigns a named Human Academic Coach. Live teaching is always one specialist with one student.
3. Individual Development Plan. The specialist writes the Individual Development Plan with the family: goals, exam track, language and field-trip options, course sequence, and the weekly live calendar.
4. Live teaching. Live 1:1 human teaching begins. Daily practice stays with the Intelligence Tutor 1:1. Intelligence Live Analytics stays visible to the family and the named coach.

The 1:1 Human Academic Coach is optional live teaching with a named teacher. The 1:1 Intelligent Coach is included in enrollment.

Every enrolled student already has the 1:1 Intelligent Coach (Intelligence Tutor 1:1) for daily 1:1 adaptive practice, and Intelligence Live Analytics for live mastery and progress.

The Human Academic Coach track adds a named human specialist in addition, not instead: scheduled live teaching. Human teaching is always 1:1 (one specialist, one student in the session). It is not a group class and not unlimited 24/7 chat. The named coach uses Intelligence Live Analytics to keep the Individual Development Plan current.

During live human hours, the ratio is one teacher to one student. You are assigned a named Human Academic Coach who owns your Individual Development Plan. Daily independent work still uses the Intelligence Tutor 1:1 so live time is used for explanation, writing, oral work, and rebuilding the year—not for routine practice. Both you and the coach see Intelligence Live Analytics.

Before live hours begin, the specialist writes an Individual Development Plan with the family: strengths, gaps, next-school or university target, exam track, additional world language if chosen, field trips, course sequence, and the weekly live calendar.

The plan is rewritten at least each term—and sooner if mastery or goals change—using Intelligence Live Analytics, not only a term-end report. Course order, pacing, capstone topic, language, field trips, and exam dates are rebuilt around this child.

One primary track (a second goal when it fits). Official exams are sat with the board or college. Mind Orbit Academy does not issue the IB Diploma or A-levels unless the student sits those exams through an authorized center.

• US diploma. Mind Orbit Academy high school diploma (or grade-level mastery in K–8): capstones, credits, and transcripts.
• AP sequence. College Board Advanced Placement courses and exam sitting where the student is ready (for example Calculus, Physics, US History, English Language, English Literature, Computer Science).
• SAT / ACT. University admissions testing calendar, practice, and score goals built into the year plan.
• International English. TOEFL (or equivalent) alongside the US diploma for students applying across borders.
• Dual enrollment. Approved courses at a regionally accredited college for high school and college credit, when the student meets prerequisites.

Families may add a world language on top of core English and any other elective already on the transcript: typically two or more sequential years, with a live oral each year. Mother-tongue maintenance or a new language. It is an option, not a diploma requirement.

Optional in-person visits, planned in the Individual Development Plan. Costs (travel, tickets, chaperones) are separate from tuition. Permission forms required. Not a boarding or alpine expedition program.

• Local site visit. Museum, lab, courthouse, farm, nature preserve, or workplace aligned to the year’s capstone or exam track.
• University or college visit. Campus tour or department session when the family can travel; planned in the Individual Development Plan.
• Academy-organized gathering. Occasional regional meet-ups when enough families are in one area. Announced in advance; not a boarding trip.

These do not replace 1:1 live teaching. None is required for the published diploma unless your Individual Development Plan says so.

• Additional world language. Optional sequential language (typically two or more years) with a live oral each year, in addition to core English and any elective already on the transcript. Mother-tongue or a new language. Not required for the standard diploma.
• Senior extended research and viva. Optional Grade 12 research paper (about 4,000 words, annotated sources) plus a 20–30 minute oral defense (viva) with the specialist and, when arranged, a second reader. Builds on the required senior capstone; the viva itself is not required for the standard diploma.
• Harkness seminar. Optional small-group discussion (typically 6–10 students) around a shared text or problem. Graded on listening and argument. Scheduled separately from 1:1 live hours.
• Research methods. Optional 0.5–1 credit: how knowledge is made—sources, evidence, citation, and a short assessed presentation. Useful before extended research, a viva, or dual-enrollment writing.
• Arts credit. Optional visual, music, or theatre credit assessed by portfolio or recital, not a worksheet.
• Creative, activity, and service. Optional documented hours in creative work, physical activity, and service, with a supervisor note and a short annual reflection. Completed locally; verified by the Academy.
• Dual enrollment. Optional 3–6 college credits at a regionally accredited college, when approved, for high school and college credit.

• Owns the Individual Development Plan and updates it with the family.
• Teaches live, always 1:1.
• Resequences courses and the annual capstone around the child’s goals and evidence of mastery.
• Plans additional world language, field trips, and the exam calendar when those options are chosen.
• May run optional Harkness, senior extended research and viva, research methods, arts, or service logs.
• Is tutor of record for comments that sit with grades, the capstone, and counselor correspondence.
